If you want to save some money, you can just buy the FMS data to get access to the AIRAC cycles, which is something of a basic necessity to many people. There is also Simlink, which can track the position of your plane in the simulator and plot it within Navigraph’s charts. It also has a gorgeous UI that allows for an easier time flight planning and deciding which procedures to use. You get access to thousands of airport charts for airports worldwide, that are updated along with the AIRAC if there are any notable changes. This is where the second part of the subscription comes into play. But what if the airport chart is outdated, or you can’t find the airport chart for the airport you’re flying at? Sometimes this is an issue if you’re flying airliners, especially outside of NA/EU. There is also consistency with updated airport charts, so you won’t have to worry that your navigation information is outdated compared to an airport chart you found. The benefits of this include consistency with flight planning software (such as SimBrief), because you will never run into an issue with inconsistent procedures, waypoints, or airport information between what your FMC/GPS has and what your flight planner has. AIRAC cycles should be updated frequently (they are released every 28 days), as they contain the most up to date navigation information and airport information.
